BPS Foundation gives $61,000 in Grants

The BPS Foundation has approved more than $61,000 in Innovation and Watts grants.

The following schools and educators will receive grants:

Innovation Grants:

  • Horizon Middle School Jeremy Overbeck United Sound: Inclusion of
    Special Ed. In Orchestra
  • Wachter Middle School Kacie Schlecht MTSS-B Rewards &
    Recognition Projects
  • Bismarck High School Lea Geis Guitar Lessons
  • Horizon & Miller Ross Baumgartner Orchestra Library for Self-
    Directed Learning

Watts Grants:

  • Sunrise Elementary Andrea Frovarp/ Technology Innovation in
    Katie Babcock Classroom
  • Career Academy Brad Stangeland Student Flights/UAS
  • BPS District Dana Van Heukelom Share the Music
  • Century High School Melissa Ringgenberg Washer/Dryer
  • Solheim & District Rob Peske Elementary Basses
  • Career Academy Richard Conley Curriculum Development

Two projects will receive funding from Donate4Impact:


Bismarck Public School District library media specialists Andrea Weikum from Sunrise and Stacy Olson from Rita Murphy both received state Collection Development Grants. Sunrise will receive $3,400; Murphy will get a $5,000 Collection Development Grant as well as a $5,000 Makerspace grant.
