Bismarck Public Schools Foundation Announces Record Breaking Dollars for Grants

The Bismarck Public Schools Foundation will be awarding over $100,000 in grants to Bismarck Public Schools teachers during the 2017-2018 school year. This marks a record-breaking amount of money that the Foundation has been able to grant largely due to major endowed gifts coming to maturity.

The grants will be awarded to teachers and administrators based upon competitive application. There will be three categories of grants awarded. The first category is the Watts Grant, given by Robert and Louis Watts. Grants awarded under this application must be hands on, encourage critical thinking, problem-solving and self-reliance. Over $90,000 will be given away in this category. The second category of grants awarded are entitled Innovation Grants. The Innovation Grants are geared towards big ideas that foster innovation in the school and have a cost of over $1000. $20,000 will be awarded in this category thanks to a matching grant provided by Basin Electric Power Cooperative.

The third category of grants are ongoing live fundraising events titled #Donate4Impact. These project ideas are posted on the BPS Foundation website and will be awarded based upon funds raised. This will enable funding on a real-time basis for many different needs in our schools.

Fill the Bus Celebrated 21 years!

Fill the Bus is a project of Bismarck Public Schools and Y93 FM radio to provide free school supplies to students in need in the Bismarck-Mandan area. On Tuesday, Aug. 22, Y93 broadcasted live 6 am to 6 pm from school buses located at Red Carpet North and Red Carpet South in Bismarck and collected school supplies or monetary donations to buy additional items. On Wednesday, Aug. 23, the supplies were distributed to school counselors and social workers who get them to students for the first day of school. BPS appreciates the support from Y93 and the community for this awesome project!
