Capital Credit Union AVID Scholar Award

The Capital Credit Union AVID Scholar Award was established in 2019. Capital Credit Union takes pride in educating their members and making them wiser consumers of financial services, as well as enhancing financial literacy and education in the communities they serve. They recognize the AVID program as an excellent way to prepare students for college, careers and life.

Capital Credit Union, originally chartered in North Dakota in 1936, is a not-for-profit financial cooperative owned by each of its more than 30,000 members and overseen by a member-elected board of directors. Capital Credit Union returns profits to each member through fewer and lower fees, lower loan interest rates and higher savings interest rates. Savings, checking, loan, credit/debit card, and many other financial services and education are offered by Capital Credit Union to member individuals, businesses and other organizations located within a 75-mile radius of Bismarck, Hazen or Fargo, or a 50-mile radius of Beulah or New Salem.

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a college-prep class offered in grades 9-12 at Bismarck, Century, and Legacy High Schools. AVID is a class that prepares ‘the entire student’ to be ready for college, focusing primarily on academics but also leadership skills and college/career knowledge.
